About us
About Just Business Credit
Plenty of good New Zealand businesses get turned away because their paperwork doesn't look like a bank's checklist. We start from what they can show instead.
Ask most owners why a loan application went nowhere and the answer is rarely "the business was bad". It's that the accountant was a year behind, a couple of GST periods were outstanding, the business had moved from sole trader to company and looked brand new, or there was an old default nobody remembered. The business itself was trading perfectly well. The paperwork just didn't match what the first lender wanted to see.
Just Business Credit exists for that gap. We look at what you can actually put in front of a lender today, whether that's full financials, twelve months of bank statements, GST returns and an income declaration, or equity in property, and match you to the kind of lending that relies on that evidence. Then we tell you plainly what else would help, so nothing stalls halfway.
Paperwork first, product second
Most lending sites start with a list of loan products. We start with a simpler question: what can you show? A trading company with current GST and unfinished accounts suits bank statement lending. A self-employed contractor with GST returns but no recent IR3 suits low doc. An owner with IRD debt and equity in the family home may suit a second mortgage. The document checklist builder works through the same logic in seven questions.
What we can help arrange
- Unsecured loans, lines of credit and cash flow options for trading businesses, typically $5,000 to $500,000, sized on turnover and bank statements.
- Property-backed business loans from $20,000 to $5,000,000 (first and second mortgages over residential or commercial property).
- Equipment finance for vehicles, machinery and tools, secured on the item.
- Past credit issues and IRD arrears considered case by case.
- Business purposes only.

Asking won't mark your file
Checking what your paperwork could support leaves your credit file untouched. A credit check only happens if you choose to apply.
Not passed down a list
Your enquiry doesn't get sent to every lender going. One person reads it and picks the lender whose paperwork rules suit yours.
Read by a real person
Someone who knows New Zealand business lending reads your enquiry and phones you. Honest answers on the form mean the first option you hear is one that fits.
How this site is written
Each page covers one paperwork level, type of business or loan, in plain New Zealand English: who it suits, what lenders ask for, what tends to hold applications up and how to fix it. We don't publish interest rates, because business loans are priced on each business's circumstances and a headline figure would mislead most readers. Examples use made-up businesses and round numbers, and are marked as illustrative. Where a page relies on official rules, we link to sources such as Inland Revenue, the Companies Office, the Personal Property Securities Register, Land Information New Zealand and the Privacy Commissioner.
Nothing here is financial, tax or legal advice. It's general information to help you prepare before you talk to a lender, your accountant or a lawyer.
